Application
One -Way 4 is an excellent general purpose biased splicing tape for use on abrasive belt butt splices with medium grit X weight cotton, poly-cotton and polyester backings. One-Way 4 combines high strength with good flexibility and can be used on a wide range of products including glue bond, resin/glue, full resin, and waterproof coated abrasives for narrow or wide belts.

All Adirondack One-Way products are supplied with our exclusive primer system which has been specifically designed to promote adhesion of urethane adhesives to the tape. This specially developed polymer primer impregnates the fiber bundles and reduces yarn splitting that can occur with high viscosity adhesive systems. In addition, the primer stops filament displacement that can occur during adhesive application on loop type knife coaters.

Processing
Primed ADK tapes are advantageously used in a two-way adhesive application using contact bonding under pressure with heat activation. The following are suggested parameters which have been successfully employed in joining endless abrasive belts:

Adhesive Type:Linear Polyester Polyurethane
Adhesive Application to Tape:1.5-2.0 mils (37.5-50 microns)
Adhesive Application to Backing:3-12 oz/yd2 (100-400 gm/m2)
Drying Time:10-30 minutes at room temperature depending on the amount of curing agent and relative humidity.
Press Cycle:
  Time:10-20 seconds
  Temperature:72-150°F (23-65°C)
  Pressure:2000 PSI (140 kg/cm2)
Curing:
  Temperature:Room Temperature
Time: Full cure will develop between 48 and 72 hours.

Storage
One-Way 4 is stable for at least 1 year when stored under cool, dry conditions (about 72°F/23°C). It must be protected from exposure to humidity and direct sunlight.
