Coated Belt Splicing Tape
Adirondack utilizes a unique thermosetting adhesive when coating all of their splicing tapes. Adhesive deposit is controlled using state of the art precision measuring devices to guarantee a consistent adhesive lay down. This allows users the ability to control joint thickness more closely, as well as, realizing manufacturing efficiencies.
Adirondack has the most complete line of abrasive belt splicing tapes in the world. We offer biased tapes for all abrasive belt splicing applications including felts and non-wovens. Adirondack tapes are available in high-temp Nomex®, flexible polyester Dacron® fabrics and cost effective polyester unidirectional yarn tapes.
Uncoated Belt Splicing Tape
All Adirondack uncoated splicing tapes are supplied with our exclusive primer system that has been specifically designed to promote adhesion of urethane adhesives.
This specially designed polymer primer impregnates the fiber bundles and reduces yarn splitting that can occur with high viscosity adhesive systems. In addition, the primer eliminates filament displacement that can occur during adhesive application on loop style knife coaters.
Solvents & Cross-Linking Agents
Adirondack manufactures and distributes a family of urethane adhesives that are used with cross-linking agents to achieve optimum properties and end results.
These cross-linking agents are either solvent based or 100% reactive liquid isocyanates containing prepolymers or adducts which react with the hydroxy functionality in the adhesive. In either case, the reaction product is a polyurethane polymer. In addition, isocyanate terminated materials react with moisture to form urea linkages.
Adhesives
Adirondack distributes a variety of cross-linking agents which have been specifically designed for use with urethane adhesives.
Adirondack urethane adhesives are manufactured from toluene diisocyanate (TDI) based linear polyester polyurethane and develop thermoset characteristics when used in conjunction with these isocyanate cross-linking agents. The amount and type of cross-linking agent to be used with any given adhesive will vary based on the specific desired properties of the cured adhesive.
